Closetly Privacy, in plain English
Before the formal version, here's what actually happens with your information. We use your photos and body details to build outfit recommendations for you. That's the whole job.
We never sell your photos, your body information, or your closet to anyone, for any reason.
Sometimes we look at data in aggregate, with anything that could identify you removed, to make the styling engine smarter for everyone. Your individual photos and your identity stay separate from that process.
You can ask us to delete your account and your data at any time, and we will.
If something about this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll tell you directly instead of quietly updating a page.
The rest of this document is the detailed version of those same promises.
1. Who we are
Closetly ("Closetly," "we," "us," or "our") is an AI-powered personal styling app that helps you get dressed with confidence using clothes you already own, plus thoughtful suggestions based on your body, your style, and your life. Closetly is based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

2. What personal data we collect
We collect the information you'd expect from an app that needs to know your closet and your body to work well:
Account information. Your name, email address, and password when you sign up.
Closet photos. Photos of clothing items you upload, or items you select from our database when you'd rather not photograph something yourself.
Body and style information. Details you share about your body shape, sizing, personal style preferences, and lifestyle, so recommendations actually fit you and your life.
Payment information. If you subscribe to a paid tier, our payment processor (Stripe) handles your card details directly. We don't store your full card number ourselves.
Usage information. How you use the app: which outfits you save, which recommendations you act on, and general activity that helps us understand what's working.
Communications. Anything you send us directly, like support requests or feedback.
We only collect what we need to make Closetly work for you. We don't ask for information that isn't relevant to styling you.
3. How we use your information
We use your information to:
Generate outfit recommendations built around your actual body, closet, and lifestyle, not a generic standard.
Run and maintain your account, including billing for paid subscriptions.
Improve our recommendation engine, using de-identified, aggregated data with anything that could identify you removed. Your individual photos are never used to train the model in a way that's traceable back to you.
Communicate with you about your account, your subscription, or changes to our service.
Respond to your questions and support requests.
Meet legal obligations, if we're ever required to.
We do not use your information for advertising to you based on your body or photos, and we don't sell any of it.
4. Your photos and body data specifically
Because this is the part people care most about, it gets its own section.
Your closet photos and any body or measurement information stay tied to your account and are visible only to you. They're used to power your own recommendations. We never sell them, and we never share your identifiable photos with anyone outside Closetly.
When we improve the underlying recommendation engine, we may use de-identified, aggregated patterns across many users' data, for example, learning that a certain silhouette tends to work well for a certain body shape, generally. That process strips out anything that identifies you individually. It is not the same as sharing your specific photos or your identity with anyone.
If you delete your account, your photos are deleted along with it, subject to the retention window in Section 7.
5. Where we store your data
Your data is stored with reputable cloud hosting providers. If any of our service providers are located outside Canada, we take reasonable steps to make sure your data is still protected to a comparable standard.
6. Who we share your data with
We share your information only in these situations:
Service providers who help us run Closetly. We work with external service providers to run and improve the app. These may include authentication providers, payment processors, cloud infrastructure providers, analytics services, artificial intelligence tools, email services, or other external systems. These providers only receive what they need to do their job, and they're not permitted to use your data for their own purposes.
Legal reasons. If we're required to by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Closetly or our users.
A future business transaction. If Closetly is ever acquired or merges with another company, your information may transfer as part of that deal, and you'd be notified.
We do not sell your personal data. Full stop.
7. How long we keep your data
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we delete your data within 30 days of that request. Some information may remain in backups for up to 3 months after deletion before being permanently purged, except where we're required to keep certain records longer for legal or accounting reasons.
8. How we protect your data
We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), restricted employee access to personal data, and regular review of our security practices. No system is completely immune to risk, but we take this seriously, particularly given the sensitivity of body and photo data.
9. Your rights
Wherever you're located, you have the right to:
Ask what personal data we hold about you.
Ask us to correct inaccurate information.
Ask us to delete your data.
Withdraw consent for us to process your data, where we rely on consent.
Ask for a copy of your data in a portable format.
To exercise any of these rights, email closetly.style@gmail.com. We'll respond within a reasonable time, generally within 30 days.
10. Children's privacy
Closetly is intended for users who are 16 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If we learn that we have, we'll delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll let you know directly, by email or in the app, before the changes take effect. Minor updates will be reflected with a new "last updated" date at the top of this page.
